New York looks all set to emerge the first outright hit of 2009. The film grossed over 5 crore nett on its first day with great business in the evening and late shows at multiplexes all over.
The film is the biggest opener in the career of John Abraham. The weekend collections will be in the 17-18 crore nett region and the first week will range between 25-30 crore nett depending on what happens from Monday onwards.
The sort of figures put up by New York are well above expectations for the type of film it is and has surprised one and all with its great collections.
