YRF offers profit to Salman

On February 8, 2011, Mumbai Mirror broke the story that Salman Khan is not ready to work for Yash Raj Films.

A few days ago, a section of the media reported that the actor has agreed to do Kabir Khan's mega project, which he will direct for YRF.

We now reveal what happened in the interim. The truth is that Salman has still not signed on the dotted line but YRF is leaving no stone unturned to get him on board.

According to sources, like YRF made an exception to get Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3 by agreeing to give him approximately 33 per cent of the share in profits, they will now make a similar one for Sallu.

The buzz in the industry is that YRF has agreed to give an equal share in profits to Salman Khan.

A few days ago, before Salman left for Bangkok to shoot for Aneez Bazmee's Ready, Aditya Chopra and Kabir apparently went to Salman's house to meet him.

The YRF scion made a very tempting offer to Salman, which surprised the actor. The offer was a 33 per cent share in the profits of the film, subject to realisation.

Prior to this meeting, Kabir had met Salman with a narration of the script, which the actor had loved.

Why is Salman still not agreeing to act in the film? "Well, you know how Salman is," says an industry insider, "He will take his own sweet time. Let's just hope that the YRF-Sallu elusive union happens."

While that gets resolved, one thing is clear: that Salman Khan is now in Aamir's league. Meanwhile, in case Sallu signs on the film, you wonder if ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif would agree to do the film as well. Kabir, who worked with her in New York (2009), shares a great rapport with the actress according to sources. Will the casting coup work out?

When asked for comments, the YRF spokesperson did not deny the story and said, "We are in talks with various actors for our projects, including Kabir's. We shall make an announcement when we finalise the cast."

Sallu's rocky past with YRF

This dates back to the days when Kunal Kohli, swamped with accolades for Fanaa, approached Salman with a script, which the actor did not like.

Kohli, while trying to hard sell his project, told Salman that he was probably making a big mistake by refusing an YRF film.

A furious Salman told Kohli, 'So what if it is a YRF film? I will work with them only if they pay me one rupee more than my current rate'.

Salman had another brush with YRF during Chak De! The actor, who had been approached for it, wanted the climax to be changed. Director Shimit Amin refused.
