'Tashan' has three big comebacks

Yash Raj film’s next release Tashan features three stars who are making a comeback to the banner after a long hiatus.

The Chopras are at last moving beyond Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee . Since last one year we have witnessed the banner’s attempt not only to move away from its escapist brand of romantic cinema, but also sign in a variety of actors in its projects.

Tashan’, for instance, marks the comeback of Akshay Kumar , Kareena Kapoor and Anil Kapoor back into the banner after a gap of many years.

Akshay was last seen in a cameo in YRF’s Dil To Pagal Hai more than a decade ago.

Kareena Kapoor is working with the banner after six years since she acted in their romantic movie Mujhse Dosti Karoge .

However, the biggest comeback in ‘Tashan’ is that of Anil Kapoor who last worked with YRF sixteen years ago with Sri Devi in ‘Lamhe’.

The USP of ‘Tashan’ is that it has all the actors in very stylish avatars. Kareena has a spunky look, Akshay sports a stubble, while Anil Kapoor has a rugged, unkempt appearance.

The movie also stars Saif Ali Khan , a Yashraj Films regular.

John and Neil Nitin Mukesh in Kabir Khan's Next

In Kabul Express he worked with a pair of male stars, John Abraham and Arshad Warsi, and now director Kabir Khan is likely to shoot with another pair of male stars for his next venture for Yashraj Films. According to sources Khan's next film, which he calls "a contemporary film with relevance" is likely to feature John Abraham again alongwith Neil Nitin Mukesh.

For 26-year-old Neil, his deal with Yashraj will be a homecoming of sorts. He had earlier made brief appearances as a child artiste in Yash Chopra's Vijay (1988) and Jaise Karni Waisi Bharni (1989). He has also assisted Aditya Chopra and Kunal Kohli. While he refused to divulge any details, saying it was "premature to talk,"The Johnny Gaddar star did confess that he was keeping his fingers crossed. "He is super thrilled about the possibilities," disclosed a close friend of Neil's.

John Abraham, who has worked earlier with Yashraj is expected to be more blas? about his new project but sources close to the star reveal that he is relieved that all past differences with producer Aditya Chopra have been resolved.

The story goes that when John had entered the Yashraj camp with Kabul Express, Aditya Chopra had offered Jhoom Barabar Jhoom to him. However John had too many queries about the script which annoyed Aditya. Further, John dilly-dallied about meeting Aditya who called him several times. This irked Adi and he went ahead and signed Bobby Deol for the film. When John heard that he had been dropped he did try and seek reconciliation but with little success until now.

Sources say that Kabir who had been keen on casting John, approached Aditya and facilitated a meeting between the two. "Kabir and John are the best of friends apart from having a healthy working relationship and so he is keen on casting John for YRF's next. Aditya Chopra was apprehensive about casting John in the film due to his past experiences. However, Aditya Chopra had a meeting with John and informed him about a two film contract with Yashraj Films. Apart from Kabir's film, John will also do a second film under the same banner."

When contacted Kabir Khan did not deny meeting John, however, he refused to confirm that he had signed him for the film. "I will only be casting in February and nothing has been finalised yet. It is too early to talk about anything now," says Kabir.

John Abraham too remained unavailable for comment.

Amisha on upcomming Kunal Kohli Project

She has also added up some facts on her Yash Raj/Kunal Kohli project, wherein she will be seen along with Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, that she plays a comic role as people want to see more of her comic side especially after comic capers she has done recently that include Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. & Bhool Bhulaiyaa which were box office hits! She plays a fairly innocent girl as well as a young, modern day character. She adds that she has cut her hair but not too short as she would never allow someone to do that since she is very fond of her long locks. The film is very new of its genre and is fresh, fun family entertainer and it has a completely new and different looks compared to films released in the past few months. It is currently under production and will most probably release on May/June 2008.

Deepika and Ranbir share Cold vibes on the sets !

Ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone are having a tough time being cordial after an argument on the sets of the untitled Yash Raj film they are shooting for in Australia . After they parted, the two newbies remained friends and were looking forward to working together but the vibes between them are far from friendly.

A source from Sydney reveals that Ranbir and Deepika are barely cordial to each other. The reason is a stand off that happened soon after they landed in Australia for shooting.

A source says, “Everything was fine between them when the shoot started. Ranbir and Deepika would hang out together, and talk like old friends. However that has gradually changed and now they interact only for work purposes.”

The problem began when Deepika felt the Kapoor boy was being aloof. An unitwalla adds, “Ranbir isn't the sorts who sits and gossips for hours between breaks. He sits in his van and watches movies or chats on the phone. This irked Deepika, who felt given their history, he should spent time with her.”

What made matters worse between these debutantes of 2007 was the OSO girl's excessive ragging of Ranbir. She often teased him about his various link-ups and whatever she was talking behind his back came back to Ranbir.

As a result Ranbir confronted Deepika and asked her to stop pulling his leg and discussing his love life with others on the sets. She denied gossiping about it and this led to a heated argument. Since that day Ranbir and Deepika have kept their distance from each other. They come together for shots but don't talk or hang out otherwise,” concludes the source.

These two films did not do well at the box office. This Rani, Shahid starrer will have music by Pritam and the rest of the crew and cast being finalised.

Aditya Chopra to direct Rani Mukherjee?

If the latest tinsel tattle is to be believed, Aditya Chopra will direct a film for home banner Yashraj Films this year.2007 was the worst year for YRF in recent history, with only one film ( Chak De India ) of their five productions turning out to be a hit. And to bail his production house out of this mess, it is Aditya Chopra himself who is learnt to be gearing up to return to direction after a long gap of eight years.

Aditya made his directorial debut with Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge , which turned out to be one of the top blockbusters ever in the Hindi film industry. He made his second film Mohabattein in 1999. The film, however, could not repeat the success of Chopra’s first movie. Now, Chopra is reported to be working on the script of a film, which he will direct later this year.

Expectedly, Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukherjee are topmost on Chopra’s wishlist for this film. Incidentally, this would be the first time Aditya will direct Rani.

Reports say Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta are also being considered for the film. The yet-untitled movie will go on the floors in the middle of this year. If things go as planned, it should make it to the theatres by the end of this

Karisma Kapoor and Shiney in Yashraj Next!

Aditya Chopra, the man responsible for Kajol-n-Madhuri's comeback, is now working on Karisma's comeback project as well. The movie is a matured love story about a married couple, who go through high and low phases in their life.

And it only keeps getting better, as Shiney Ahuja has been approached to star opposite Karisma in this Yashraj' next. Manish Malhotra, who revived Karisma's career in the 90's by giving her a complete makeover, will be embellishing Karisma this time as well with his stylish designs.
