Uday Chopra has announced the formation of YRF Entertainment, a Hollywood-based production and financing company focused on developing and producing feature films for the U.S. and international marketplace.
The company is launched and funded by Yash Raj Films, (yashrajfilms.com) the 41-year old studio that was founded by Yash Chopra, and continues to be one of India’s most prolific film producers and distributors. Uday Chopra will serve as CEO of YRF Entertainment and has hired Jonathan Reiman to head development and production under him.
Uday Chopra commented, “My family has a deep commitment to making and distributing quality films that entertain and enlighten audiences. I share that passion, as well as a love for American films that I have had since childhood. It is that enthusiasm and my love of the creative process of filmmaking that drove me to start this new venture.”
YRF Entertainment (yrfentertainment.com) is currently producing and financing “The Longest Week,” which began shooting last week in New York City. Written and directed by Peter Glanz, the movie stars Jason Bateman, Olivia Wilde, and Billy Crudup. Uday Chopra is producing with Neda Armian. Exec Producers are, Jonathan Reiman, Chris Marsh, Stone Douglass, Taylor Materne.
The comedy tells the story of a bratty “man-child” (Bateman) who still lives with his parents in a chic Manhattan hotel but suddenly finds himself evicted, disinherited and hopelessly in love with his best friend’s heartthrob (Wilde).
Uday tracked down the project after the original financier had to abandon the film and immediately fell in love with the material. He quickly arranged a creative and physical production meeting with Glanz and Armian in Mumbai. After the lengthy meeting, he committed to making the movie, with his business and legal team closing the deal in less than two weeks.
YRF Entertainment is also building a slate of projects that it will actively develop and produce from the ground up. The first project the company will develop is an untitled action/comedy by Dan Ewen (“Opposites Attract”) about two twenty-something’s who run away from their podunk towns to pursue big dreams and become an unlikely but seemingly unstoppable duo after meeting serendipitously.

In fact the unit had already begun preparing for the promotional tours but all plans went haywire when some top YRF officials saw the film.
Buzz is that Yash Chopra himself isn’t too pleased with certain romantic scenes featuring Ranveer and Anushka Sharma. “Yash ji is a stickler for perfection and he has asked his team to re-shoot some portions of the film shot in Goa. A last minute meeting was held at the studios and Aditya Chopra has been asked to look into the changes. He is a filmmaker with a vision, his suggestions can never be ignored,” says a source.
However, that’s easier said than done. Ranveer had to cancel his Delhi tour to promote the film and prepare for the role all over again. “He’s flying to Goa tomorrow. We are way behind schedule; now the promotional activities around the film will only commence after November 22,” says Ranveer’s spokesperson. Looks like the team could do with some superpowers to put things back in place now.

Aamir Khan is in his recreation home in Panchgani. His sprawling bungalow, one of the most envious addresses in the hill station is the perfect hideout for Aamir who is on a diet and who is building his body for the role of the villain in Aditya Chopra's Dhoom-3.
The film is scheduled to go on floors in January 2012 and release around Christmas 2012.

After completing the current schedule of Ek Tha Tiger in Dublin, the actress will have to start preparing for her character in Dhoom 3 in the month that she had kept aside for her family holiday.
According to sources, Katrina has received an urgent return-to-duty call from Yashraj Films to not just learn some heavy-duty stunts but also exercise her vocal cords for her role in the sequel to Dhoom.
The actress will need to undertake para gliding lessons and a full-fledged singing course for the project. "Katrina has to go one up on the last Dhoom heroine Aishwarya Rai. That's a tall order in itself," informed a source.
Katrina, who had been planning to sing for Ali Zaqfar's album has yet been uninitiated into the realm of music. This will be the first time Katrina will sing for herself in a film.
Apart from the singing, Katrina it seems has a lot of pending work for the same film. She will need to discuss with Aditya Chopra and director Vijay Krishna Acharya about the look, body language, spoken language and attitude of her character in the project.

Actor Rani Mukerji, 33, who is known to be dating filmmaker Aditya Chopra, may get married next year.
The actor’s father, Ram Mukerji, said that his daughter has promised him that she will do so by 2012.
“Rani is so busy that she has not been able to find time for her personal

The veteran filmmaker, who has signed up Rahman for the first time for his next directorial, is wonderstruck at his genius.
"Rahman is a genius. I am working on a film with him, and his way of working is fantastic... he`s amazing. He doesn`t talk anything but music, and he says he knows nothing but music," Chopra said at an event here Tuesday.
Chopra has roped in Rahman to compose melodies for his yet-to-be-titled film starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Now with 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan' also finding brownie points coming it's way mainly due to Katrina's presence, they have wasted no time in rewarding her, what with a film each with Aamir Khan (Dhoom 3), Salman Khan (Ek Tha Tiger) and Shahrukh Khan (untitled film to be directed by Yash Chopra).
Call it a clich but the writing is pretty much clear on the wall - Katrina Kaif is easily Yash Chopra's newest blue eye girl, what with multiple films falling in her kitty at a rapid pace.
"Now this is something that is already making quite a few cynics hide their faces and look the other way because they had never imagined Katrina being summoned at least for those roles that required her to actually act," says a filmmaker on condition of anonymity.
As Katrina about being entrusted to deliver in quite a few biggies, especially her immediate next release 'Ek Tha Tiger' and she says, "See, we are trying our best. It is good to be shooting for the film and we have a good script in hand to work upon. Leaving behind his father's successful business of restaurant chains, 23 year old actor Saqib Saleem, who makes his debut in Yash Raj Films' upcoming movie 'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge', came to the city of dreams Mumbai.
Saqib hails from Delhi, where his father runs a successful restaurant business called 'Saleem's' with around 10 outlets. He assisted his father for almost six months and he got tired of it.
"During my college days, I used to help my father in his business. Also, I was modeling at the same time. I helped my dad for about six months but I was not enjoying it. I told him I want to go to Mumbai and do modelling, initially he was reluctant. He said if I do not get a job then I will have to come back and do MBA," Saqib told PTI in an interview.
When he landed in Mumbai, he did a few modelling assignments and few advertisements like 'Pepsi' ad with actor Ranbir Kapoor, 'Tata Docomo', 'KFC', 'Sprite', 'Bar One' and others.
"When I started shooting for ads, I liked being in front of camera and that built my interest for acting. I used to meet a lot of people, give auditions. But nothing fruitful happened. One of my friends got to know that Yash Raj Films
was looking for new faces. I gave auditions. It took 8-9 months, I was getting impatient, luckily I got confirmation," Saqib said.
'Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge', is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of social networking site, directed by debutante Nupur Asthana.
"I liked the script and I did it. I feel, the youth will relate and connect with it. I think, the movie will put me in a different light and open lot of doors for me," he said.
The film, which comes from Y-Film's, the youth division of YRF, has four debut actors, Saqib Saleem, Nishant Dahiya, Saba Azad and Tara D'Souza. It will release on October 14.

"I thank God, Aditya Chopra and YRF. When I was told I will have to meet him (Aditya), I was like I will have to behave well and be well dressed, polite and all. He is very nice and warm person...he helped us all. He gave us inputs", Saqib said.

The grapevine has it that Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma’s ‘Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’ may not be released on its sceheduled date of release, December 9 as announced by Yash Raj Films.
Shooting is still underway and there’s some re-shooting on the cards. Sources close to Yash Raj Films tell us that the unit is under considerable stress to meet the deadline and will be leaving for Goa for a four-day shoot. They will also be travelling to Lucknow.
It seems Aditya Chopra was not happy with some scenes, which need to be re-shot in Goa and Lucknow. Hopefully, this time round, director Maneesh Sharma will meet Chopra’s expectations. And, hopefully, the film will release as planned.

Yash Raj Films' youth films studio Y-Films launched the music of its forthcoming release MUJHSE FRAAANDSHIP KAROGE (MFK) in Mumbai on Wednesday with a live performance by Raghu Dixit-one of India's foremost desi rockstars who makes his Bollywood debut as music composer.
The gig that is being live streamed on the web also showcased the 4 new leads of the film Saqib Saleem, Saba Azad, Nishant Dahiya & Tara D'Souza.
Speaking on the launch, Nupur Asthana, the director of MUJHSE FRAAANDSHIP KAROGE, said, "Music & the internet are 2 things our audience can't live without."
"Our film reflects that, so clearly our music launch had to do the same. Raghu's rocked not just the songs, but also the background score of the film. And after hearing the album, your feet will want to fraaandship with your ears!"

Katrina: No trouble on Ek Tha Tiger sets

Recent reports suggested that there was union trouble for the unit of Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger while shooting at an outdoor location in Dublin.
The film's heroine Katrina Kaif denies this. "This is the first time I am hearing of this. What trouble? Which workers' strike? We've been shooting here uninterrupted since we arrived. There's been absolutely no disturbance of any kind. In fact, the local people here are very supportive. They go out of their way to make us feel at home," she says.
The only sore point, if any, is that Katrina is shooting during the night.
"I am unable to keep in touch with anyone back home because I am asleep during the day," she says.
Yet, she tries to keep tabs on the collections of her last release Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. "Imran (Khan), Ali (Zafar) and I had so much fun shooting it. It was one of the most enjoyable shootings of my life. We'd do a shot and then laugh over it for hours."
The idea of a Mere Brother… sequel has been put forward. If it materializes, Katrina is game for it.

'Priyanka Chopra's cousin replaces Anushka Sharma'

And it seems that Priyanka Chopra's cousin Parineeti has taken over. Parineeti, who features in Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, was the latest YRF discovery. Initially, the industry was abuzz with speculation that Anushka would star opposite Boney Kapoor's son Arjun in Habib Faisal's next. But now we hear that Parineeti has been considered for the role.
A source told Mumbai Mirror, "YRF has decided that Parineeti is apt for the role. Habib Faisal is also very keen to work with Parineeti. Ditto for Aditya Chopra, who always takes most of the final decisions in YRF. An official announcement will be made in this regard very soon."
Before she was signed up for Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Parineeti used to work in the marketing section of YRF Films. However, Aditya Chopra felt she was actress material. Music director Pritam Chakraborty was supposed to compose the music for Dhoom 3 and Ek Tha Tiger, both YRF films. But since the music of both the films needed to be composed simultaneously, it was difficult for Pritam to work on both the projects at the same time.
Besides, Pritam has a line up of other movies like Players, Tezz, Barfee, Race 2, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 and Jannat 2, so it was difficult for him to compose both Dhoom 3 and Ek Tha Tiger at the same time. Hence, he requested producer Aditya Chopra to excuse him from one of the films.
Since Pritam has worked on the Dhoom franchise from the beginning, Aditya Chopra told him to work on Dhoom 3 and leave Ek Tha Tiger. Pritam also agreed with Aditya's decision.
YRF has now roped in music director Sohail Sen to compose the music of Ek Tha Tiger. Sohail Sen was the music director of YRF's recent release Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Aditya Chopra was really impressed with his work and asked him to compose the music of Ek Tha Tiger and he gladly agreed to do so.

The starcast of the eagerly awaited film ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ visited Dainik Bhaskar’s Jaipur office on Friday.

interacted with Bhaskar readers during their visit and shared some interesting stories concerning their experience while working in the film, which scheduled hit the theatres on September 9.
Katrina Kaif pointed out that the USP of ‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ is its humour quotient.
Responding to a question from a Bhaskar reader, Imran Khan said when he first saw the script he felt it was an old fashioned story.
“I gave the script to my mom to read. The next day she called me up and said it was a hilarious script. You must do the movie,” said Imran.
Katrina said she knew director Abbas Ali Zafar from the time she worked in ‘New York’. Abbas was the assistant director of that film.
“Abbas offered me a completely different script. I liked the story as it did not portray the lead actress as Bollywood’s typical heroine,” she said.
‘Mere Brother ki Dulhan’ will be the second Bollywood movie for Pakistani singer and actor Ali Zafar, who was first seen in ‘Tere Bin Laden’.

Abhishek Bachchan cancels paternity leave!
On July 29, Mumbai Mirror had reported that the Yash Raj Films' Dhoom 3, which was to go on floors in November, was postponed. And the decision came in light of soon-to-daddy Abhishek Bachchan's request to spend time with his wife Aishwarya Rai, who is expected to deliver around November.
However, even though Chopra agreed to postpone filming, a source informed that Abhishek will still have to sacrifice his sanctioned paternity leave for his professional commitments.
Reportedly, Dhoom 3 will go on floors in November as previously planned because Aamir Khan's dates are not flexible at all. "It is not advisable for the producers to try negotiating with Aamir as his dates clash with the time Abhishek wished to take off from the shoots.
Hence Aditya Chopra asked him to reconsider taking leave," said the source.

Aditya Chopra probably spends each one of his waking second at the Yash Raj Studios office in Andheri. But come Friday, and the man has to watch the week's biggest release - first day, first show.
That has been the ritual in Bollyland until recently. A few months back, Adi Chopra disappeared from the face of every city multiplex. This left the industry wondering where the man was watching the week's releases.
Mumbai Mirror has however, found out his secret Friday hideout. Tired of the paparazzi, Adi, it seems has shifted his Friday rituals to a single screen theatre in Juhu from a multiplex.
A source informed us, "As long as we can remember, Aditya Chopra has been watching films first day, first show. He loves to watch audience's reaction to the film at various stages.
This inspires him to write his own scripts. Some time back, a photographer had caught him exiting a city multiplex. This has made Adi really cautious about going out. He doesn't like being clicked by shutterbugs."
"Consequently, it has become really difficult for Adi to go to a multiplex to watch a film. His face has now become recognisable. And invariably at every multiplex, the photographers swarm in. That is exactly why Adi has devised this new plan. he has been watching all the films in a single screen theatre next to his place - Chandan Talkies in Juhu," added the source.
"In fact Adi will be watching Bodyguard at Chandan on the very first day," revealed the source.
"Yes Adi is going to watch Bodyguard at Chandan with his close friend Anurag Singh, who had directed Dil Bole Hadippa," revealed a source close to Chopra.

For their forthcoming Yash Raj Films'movie 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan', the stars got really serious when it came to an important sequence. In this scene, Katrina had to slap Imran. Now being the nephew of Mr. Perfectionist, Imran insisted that Katrina must genuinely slap him to make the scene authentic. However, in the pursuit of the perfect take, poor Imran got slapped a dozen times and was left with a puffy red cheek.
But immediately after the shoot our beauty went on to shower her apologies on him in a chocolaty manner. For, Katrina very sweetly got Imran a box of chocolates as she felt responsible.

"I did not read the script, but my mom found the script and read it. She called me and told me that I should read the script and do this film because it is hilarious. So I read it, I loved it and finally decided to do it. His script just won me over. Initially I was not doing it, but now I'm so glad that I did it," quoted the young handsome Khan.

In the beginning of her career she worked with senior actors like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. She was paired with the younger actor like Ranbir Kapoor in the recent past in films like Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti that were successful, and then she did a Yashraj film with Imran Khan - Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which is about to release.
"I don't think anyone will mind if I say that it is very different working with older heroes because the age difference is of about 20 years, and just about two to three years with the younger heroes with who you can even do nonsense on the sets. For instance, Imran would come on the sets, he would kick me playfully...at times there would be nothing constructive what we were doing..there is so much bachpana .."
And one senior actor Katrina is terrified working with is Salman's arch foe Shah Rukh Khan. She will soon romance Shah Rukh on the big screen. "I don't know what it will be like working with Shah Rukh but I have heard that he makes his heroines very comfortable which is good. I am only on hi, hello terms with him and now I am doing Yash Chopra's romantic film with him! I look at him longingly but am always short of words while in his company," says Katrina.

The most eligible bachelor in tinsel town, Ranveer Singh has bared his heart out on celebrity chat show, Simi Selects India’s Most Desirable.
Singh, who became one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood after his debut film, Band Baaja Baarat, revealed that he had his share ofstruggles. The actor said he started off as an assistant director. He prefers to call that time of his life as his “hustle period” when he “was working round the clock and was also gaining weight.”
He further says, “Then I started working out, did theatre for 10 months, started getting offers, said no to offers from great producers and waited for my dream break.” Singh also says that he “got a crazy casting couch offer.”
“Things got really bad as my struggle period coincided with recession, so I really hit rock bottom. My family was also not having the best of time financially. But my family is my grounding experience,” he adds.
However, soon, the actor got his break. “First time in their history, YRF (Yash Raj Films) launched a lead solo hero who was a newcomer.” Now, he says, he has “no time to pause and see what all is happening around.”
The 26-year-old actor, who has got his theatre and drama graduation degree from Indiana University, USA, has been linked with his Band Baja Baraat co-star Anushka Sharma. However, he rebuffs the rumour. “There’s no truth to Anushka and me,” he says. But, he adds, “She is amazing and beautiful.”
Singh believes, he is not good enough for Sharma. “I think Anushka deserves someone much better than me.” However, he is full of praises for Sharma’s professionalism and acting.

In the song, Katrina is seen making a number of casual chic fashion statements, ranging from ripped orange jeans and hot denim shorts to sleeveless tops and off- shoulder tees. She will be strumming the trademark guitar of course, to complete the rock style, along with kohl-lined eyes to add a grunge effect.
Katrina's look has been styled by Rocky S. and Aki Narula. Since Ranbir's bandana-laden rockstar look has already been leaked online, Bollywood fans can't wait for the upcoming battle of Bollywood rockers.
Of course, Katrina isn't essaying a rockstar in her film. "The song is an introduction to Katrina's happy-go-lucky character in the film. She plays a maverick who lives by her own rules, and that's what the image being portrayed in the number," said a source.
Incidentally, this is the second time in as many films that Katrina will be donning a Bohemian character. In her last release, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, she impressed all playing a half UShalf Indian character who lives life to the fullest on her own terms.
Co-incidently, as part of the promotions of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Katrina participated in a rock concert in the Capital along with her co-stars Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar, Abhay Deol and Kalki Koechlin. The show dampened the plans of Rockstar, since director Imtiaz Ali was planning a similar live rock concert featuring Ranbir to promote his film.
Mere Brother ki Dulhan is written and directed by debutant filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar. The film marks the return of Ali Zafar, who created waves with his histrionic skills in last year's Tere Bin Laden.

Will Salman enjoy 'Bourne' inspired action in Ek Tha Tiger?
With Ready being a blockbuster success, Chillar Party out of his way and shooting of Bodyguard over, Salman Khan is now all set to step into one of his biggest films till date - Ek Tha Tiger. While a lot has been said and written about the film bringing back Salman together with Katrina Kaif, what has further added to the intrigue is the thriller base of the film. The latest development in this direction is that Yash Raj Films and director Kabir Khan would be shooting some of the key sequences of Ek Tha Tiger in the same style that would remind film buffs of thriller Bourne series.
"It is a known fact that Salman would be travelling across globe for Ek Tha Tiger which would be shot at various unseen exotic locations. This is similar to thrillers like Bourne series which again required it's lead protagonist to get into globe trotting mode", comments a source.
So while the makers have emphasized on the fact that at the core of it Ek Tha Tiger is a romantic thriller, Kabir's penchant for shooting his films abroad has made one expect a slick thriller in a similar format as Bourne.

'Ek Tha Tiger' most commercial film of mine: Kabir Khan
After two realistic projects 'New York' and 'Kabul Express', Kabir Khan says he is all set to make his most commercial film with Yash Raj's 'Ek Tha Tiger', starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. "'Ek Tha Tiger' is the most commercially accessible mainstream film of mine.
It is not just the starcast but also the story which is larger than life. The subject demands that the story telling is flamboyant here," Kabir told PTI. The film, which brings together Katrina and Salman, will see Kabir make an attempt to blend his art of portraying realistic stories on screen and the demands of a masala entertainer.
"There are two parts to making a film. One comes from what is inherent to you as a person and a director. That cannot change as there is certain craft which comes into play here. "On the other hand, there is a certain demand of a narrative. If you can blend the two together well, nothing better than that. My endeavour is to do that only. I want my aesthetics to be intact," said Kabir.
John Abraham starrer 'New York', inspired by the 9/11 attacks, was his last release. The director, who talked about the issue of terrorism in his film 'Kabul Express' as well, said he was not under the pressure of audience exportations while scripting 'Ek Tha Tiger'. "I wasn't carrying that baggage. I never thought that I had to write something that was bigger or better than 'New York'.
The characters did what they were expected to do in the story. "There is this ongoing trend to make a sequel in order to take forward the hit formula. However, I never had any intention to do that with 'New York' because as far as I am concerned, the story of 'New York' is over. The film had met a natural end so there was no scope left whatsoever to take it any further."
The director said he is taking to a different format of story-telling with 'Ek Tha Tiger', which will be a big change from that of 'Kabul Express' or 'New York'. "I intend to bring in some growth in terms of story telling. Now that's a big shift that you would see in 'Ek Tha Tiger'. While 'Kabul Express' and 'New York' had to be narrated in a certain style, they couldn't have been flamboyant or over stated. I think I can afford to do that in 'Ek Tha Tiger'." Katrina will prove her critics wrong: Imran
Actor Imran Khan is not just smitten by the beauty of Katrina Kaif, but by her hardwork and dedication too, after working with her in "Mere Brother Ki Dulhan".
"I think this film will do very good things for her. We have often heard that she is just a pretty face and she can`t act. But with this film, Katrina is going to prove all of them wrong," Imran told IANS.
"Mere Brother Ki Dulhan" is a romantic comedy from the Yash Raj Films stable, and Imran says he enjoyed working on it.
"It was fun working with Katrina. I was very impressed with her. She is an incredibly hard working girl. For someone who hasn`t known the language (Hindi), the way she has worked on that and the way she delivers her dialogues now is incredible," Imran said.

Uday Chopra to direct films now
It seems Uday Chopra has finally discovered his ultimate dream. The actor-turned-writer is now gearing up to try his hand at direction. A director is all that he wants to be in life now.
As we told you earlier, the actor plans to quit acting after Dhoom 3 but he certainly doesn't want to swap all ties from the film world.
Uday is currently in Los Angeles learning filmmaking from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Uday confirms, "I've gone back to school. Yes you heard it right. I have enrolled in UCLA."

Yash Chopra - 50 years and counting... The eternal romantic teams up with the king of romance once again
As already announced, Yash Chopra's next directorial venture stars the king of romance, Shahrukh Khan. As Yashji put it earlier, "Everyone knows that when I make a movie, Shahrukh will be involved with it. He is like family to YRF and I have always regarded him as one of my own."
However, after days of media conjecturing, we are happy to confirm that the two ladies, who will also be a part of this project, are Katrina Kaif, who will be playing a role opposite Shahrukh for the very first time, and Anushka Sharma, who was launched in "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi", alongside Shahrukh.
Orchestrated by Yash Chopra, this untitled movie will mark the coming together yet again of the award winning duo of the music maestro A. R. Rahman and the poet & lyricist, Gulzar.
When we spoke with him, he shared some of his thoughts with us.
"It's been 7 years since I directed Veer-Zaara and as I begin work on my new film I hear my inner voice asking me a lot of questions. Are you sure you want to direct again, you are nearly 80 years old and the audience is getting younger day by day. Can I really speak from my heart and still expect today's youth to listen to me? Will I be able to live up to the blind faith that Shahrukh Khan has in me and give him yet another memorable romantic film? Will I be able to present the beautiful Katrina Kaif and the very talented Anushka Sharma in a way they have never been seen before? Will I be able to inspire Rahman and Gulzar Bhai enough to create their best work yet?
The honest answer is... I DON'T KNOW! All I know is that I'm making a film that I believe in, a film that is about love and nothing else. A film which has an old soul but a young heart. A film which is classic in its look but contemporary in its language. A film which I'm making on one simple faith... the love that my audiences have given to me over the years. They have tolerated my indulgences for the past 50 years, I'm sure they will indulge me one more time."
The film is scheduled for a Diwali 2012 release, the festive time when Yash Chopra movies over the years have lit up homes worldwide.

Uday Chopra to quit acting after Dhoom 3
He may not qualify as one of the biggest superstars in the country, but all said and done, he did manage to cut out a niche for himself. We're talking about none other than Uday Chopra. The younger son of the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra started his career with the superhit film Mohabbatein and though he didn't manage to strike gold with all his films at the Box Office, he delivered hits like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai and blockbuster films Dhoom and Dhoom 2. The actor who is now all set to feature in Dhoom 3, however, has announced his retirement from acting.

When I work with people I have worked with for years, I don’t even ask what they are doing. I’ve reached a stage in life where I need friends who have done films with me. And Yashji is more than a friend. He is like a mentor and a wonderful human being; besides being India’s greatest filmmaker ever. So, he asks me, “Beta aa jao, picture karni hai (Son, come over, we need to do a film).” And I always reply, “Haanji, aap bas bata do (Sure, just let me know).” He called me a few days ago and said, “Tu toh milta hi nahi hai yaar (you never meet).” So, I said, “Kya karna hai milke (what’s there to meet).” He told me, “Sun toh le kya karna hai film mein (at least listen to what has to be done in the film).” And I replied, “Aap karlo jo karna hai, main aa jaunga (you do what’s to be done, I’ll land up).” So he asked me, “Kapde kya pehnega (what’ll you wear?).” I said, “Nanga aa jaunga main, jo accha lage pehna dena (I’ll land up naked, make me wear whatever you like).”

'We would like to once again reiterate that we are still looking for a fresh face to play the female lead in the much awaited movie and that as of now no one has been cast for the role,' adds the spokesperson.

For obvious reasons, acquiring the permission has been quite a feat. Reportedly, YRF sent a letter to the Iraqi government a few months ago, requesting for permission to shoot a major action sequence in the country with Salman.
Not only has the government granted filming permissions, but has also made provisions to ensure the security of the cast and crew. And to top it off, the government has made arrangements for the crew to commute by helicopter from one shooting location to another.
Our source told us, "It was expected that the permission would be granted. We guess Iraq wants to convey loud and clear that all is well in their country."
However, as with most decisions that affect the Dabangg man, the move to approach the Iraqi government did not happen before Kabir and YRF sought Salman's permission. The source added, "Salman is extremely excited about shooting in Iraq. When Kabir Khan told him about the schedule in Iraq, he immediately agreed."
The director is scheduled to leave for Iraq today to scout around for the exact locations for shoot. The source explained, "He will be zeroing down on the spots where Salman will shoot. He will return in a week. After that, he will go to Iraq with Salman, in August."

Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge Shifted To 14th October
Y-Films ' 2nd production 'Mujshe Fraaandship Karoge ', directed by Nupur Asthana and produced by Ashish Patil, has shifted its release date to October 14th.
The film features a rocking desi-rock soundtrack by one of India 's most popular musicians Raghu Dixit who makes his Bollywood debut as composer. The music on the film is one of its bigger selling points and the shift has been done to facilitate more work on the songs which are being mastered in London and to include an additional song and video, besides capitalising on the lean period pre Diwali.
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge is a romantic comedy set against the backdrop of social networking and also introduces 4 hot new faces, besides a host of fresh talent behind the scenes as well.

Anushka to play second fiddle to Katrina
The actress's youth and her connections with YRF land her a role in Yash's untitled project with Katrina Kaif and Shah Rukh Khan.
It might appear that she is second fiddle to Katrina Kaif, but Anushka Sharma knows what's good for her.
The rapport that the young actress shares with YRF have made her an obvious choice for directors Yash and Aditya Chopra's much-talked about untitled project. Sharma will now join Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif, in Yash's directorial project since Veer Zaara, in 2004.
Our source explained, "The script requires a strong actor for the second lead in the film. Yash and Aditya were scouting around and then thought that Anushka seemed to be an obvious choice, for more than one reason.
The role required an actress, who looks younger than Katrina Kaif. And few actresses fit that requirement. Anushka was just the right choice. Plus, Yash Chopra is really fond of her."
If all goes as planned, this film will mark Anushka's fifth time working with YRF. Also, she is the only actress to work with both Yash and Aditya Chopra at the same time, unlike Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Aishwarya Rai and Preity Zinta, who have only worked with one of the two directors.

Debi Dutta to Sizzle in an Item Number in Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
Model-turned actress Debi Dutta, who is more familiar on the small screen is all set to exhibit her dancing skills on the big screen. The Kolkata based actress, who made her debut as a childhood friend of Ranbir Kapoor in the movie ‘Rocket Singh’, will be sizzling in an item number along with actor Imran Khan in the forthcoming romantic comedy entertainer ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’.
Debi Dutta will appear in two different looks in the item number sung by Mika. While one is that of a bride (dulhan), the other is the pulsating ‘Dabangg’ look.
Speaking about the item song, the actress said “People will have to wait and check out my "Dabangg" look in this song. There could be a Salman connection to it but I am not revealing anything as yet on that.”
‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ is an upcoming romantic comedy entertainer that marks the writing and directing debut of Ali Abbas Zafar. Set around a love triangle, the film stars Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar in the lead roles. It is produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films.

It seems Virus Diwan has caught a serious virus and Arjun Kapoor may have to wait for his big break in Bollywood till it gets mended, that is, if it's repairable.
Apparently, it is because of the creative difference between the producers and the director of the film Bumpy, that Boney's son's launch pad scheduled for a December 30 release, has been shelved. The producers, Yash Raj Films, however, still believe that Arjun's career will kick start with this YRF project only.
But Arjun can still heave a sigh of relief. Apparently, Habib Faisal, who won a National Award for his remarkable film Do Dooni Chaar and also the writer for Band Baaja Baaraat, will launch Arjun in another film. Our source said, "Arjun was said to be the most talked about newcomer when YRF announced the film.
It was scheduled to release this year. However, now Arjun will have to wait a little longer to make his Bollywood debut. His film Virus Diwan has been shelved and now a new launch pad is being worked out for him. Aditya Chopra had a meeting with Habib Faisal who will direct a film for Adi, which will launch Arjun.
Bumpy will no longer direct Arjun's launch pad. The differences between Adi and Bumpy are yet unclear though."

SRK to gain weight for Yash Chopra’s film
Shah Rukh Khan is looking super thin these days, thanks to his superhero costume that made him lose a lot of weight. But not anymore... the actor is happy that Ra.One shoot is over and he doesn't have to wear his heavy superhero costume yet again.

Angela Jonsson not in Dhoom 3
Angela Jonsson is in news again, and this time it's not because of any Kapoor! The former swimsuit calendar girl and Ranbir's 'close friend', was found auditioning for the upcoming "Dhoom" sequel at the Yash Raj Studios, recently.
When contacted, Yash Raj Films admitted that Angela was there for an audition. However, they denied having signed her for the film. "We constantly audition new talent and Angela was auditioned for a possible role by our casting department but this was not for any specific project," said the YRF spokesperson and added, "YRF is not in discussion with her regarding "Dhoom3". Angela did not reply to our SMS either.

The source reveals, "Chopra is very keen to have Kads opposite Shah Rukh. He is quite fond of both of them and loves their onscreen pairing. He feels that they can create the same magic."
"While it's sure that Katrina will star in the film, it could be possible that the movie is a love triangle and that they have approached Kajol to either reprise the other romantic lead or do a cameo," the source further adds.

Salman Khan hasn't worked with director Kabir Khan and producer Aditya Chopra before and we hear that the situation is kind of awkward for the duo who will soon start filming Ek Tha Tiger which also stars Katrina Kaif.
Since Salman is not a phone person, Adi seems to have decided that the best way to communicate with his hero is through Kat.

Katrina Kaif has discovered a new friend to party with. She feels extremely comfortable with Imran Khan as a pal and co-star and as ideal husband to his wife Avantika. Last week, Katrina partied till the wee hours on Thursday night with Imran before driving straight from the party to the airport in the next morning to catch a flight to Bangkok.
Says a source close to Katrina, "Katrina is in a space where she's content being on her own, because she has two back-to-back Yash Raj Films to shoot this year. The last thing she wants is any distraction. On Thursday night when Ranbir threw open his bungalow for his friends for a party, Katrina was hurriedly wrapping up the last day's shoot for Mere Brother Ki Dulhan."
Very late into the night when the last shot was done Imran and the director decided on an impromptu wrap-up party.
Says the source, "Katrina begged off since she had an early-morning flight to catch for Bangkok to shoot an ad. But when Imran insisted, Katrina didn't want to be a party-pooper. After Sandalwood, Raghu Dixit heads to Bollywood

Raghu Dixit, the musician who is often seen in a colourful panche and kurta teamed with ghungroos is on a new high after signing his first Bollywood project with none other than Y-films. The singer and composer who gave a new meaning to pop with his song 'Hey Bhagwan' that created a stir among the audience is all set to re-create the magic in his upcoming Hindi flick.
What’s more? The musician has also been awarded the Best Newcomer at the 2011 Songlines Music Awards, organised by a UK-based magazine Songlines. Currently working on his UK musical, he will be seen collaborating with English folk-band Bellowhead and Kathak dancer Gauri Sharma for the same.
“All the three of us performed together once, and seemed to have connected instantly. We decided on a staging a musical for which the production has already begun. Currently, we are in the process of finalising the story. Initially, we thought we could work on folk tales from the Panchatantra, but now we are browsing materials on Indian mythology. Nevertheless, there will be a strong folk element in our musical,” he reveals.
After a string of performances in the UK, the band will be seen performing at upcoming festivals like Glastonbury, Belladrum, Rhythms of the World, Latitude amongst others. Says Raghu, “The kind of response we get in places like the UK is amazing. Initially, it was difficult to break through, but there is a sense of curiosity for them to see men clad in weird costumes performing with western instruments. After the initial hiccup, they get comfortable.”
With work for his second album already in the pipeline, the composer seems to be having a rather busy year. “There will be about 10 songs in different languages like Tamil, Bengali, and Punjabi amongst others, unlike my previous album. I am looking at a November release,” he signs off.

It seems like Aditya Chopra wants to shoot Dhoom 3 in the 3D format. However Aamir Khan, who plays the negative lead in the film, seems to have reservations.
With the advent of the latest 3D technology which has caught the fancy of Hollywood in a big way, almost every third foreign film is being made in 3D. For many film-franchise which came up with their third part, like Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Step Up 3, Transformers Dark of the Moon, etc, the 3D just went in sync with the title. Now one big Bollywood film seems to be taking to the 3D format in its third installment. We are talking about Dhoom 3 .
Buzz is that Aditya Chopra has plans to take his ambitious film Dhoom 3 to another level by shooting it in the 3D format. The action-adventure genre of the film gives a lot of scope for 3D effects in the film. A source informs, "With the success of Haunted 3D , India's first film in the new 3D technology, the Yash Raj banner felt that Indian audiences have opened up to 3D cinema viewing. That made them more confident to experiment with the new format".
However, while Aditya Chopra seems quite upbeat about the idea, Aamir Khan, who plays the negative lead in the film, seems to have his reservations. "The 3D technology needs expertise and perhaps Aamir is not sure whether director Vijay Krishna Acharya (who last directed Tashan and wrote Dhoom 1 & 2 ) would be able to do justice to it", explains the source. Presently Aamir Khan is busy with the promotions of his next production Delhi Belly and once that film releases, he might have discussions with Aditya Chopra regarding shooting Dhoom 3 in 3D. We hope he agrees. D3 in 3D would be a visual delight!

Yash Chopra to collaborate with the music maestro A. R. Rahman
 50 years of being an unparalleled industry icon. 40 years as head of the most revered studio in the country. Director of some of the most heart-warming and celebrated movies of our times.. yrf is very proud to announce our next project directed by Yash Chopra. Also, for the first time, Yashji and A. R. Rahman have come together for the music of this project. It is indeed a special announcement of two industry stalwarts collaborating on a film. Speaking on this, Yash Chopra was effusive in his praise for the talented music director. "I am starting work on the music of my as yet untitled film with the very talented Rahman. Apart from the great honour that he has consistently brought to our country, he is also someone that has created some outstanding and memorable music, something which is very important and dear to me and my films. I am looking forward to creating some wonderful music combining Rahman's contemporary world music sensibilities and my old world sensibilities of lilting melodies."  A. R. Rahman, while speaking about working with Yashji for the first time said, "I am very excited to work with Yashji and I am humbled by his faith in me for his film.
